Omega Labyrinth Life main story finished + Thoughts/Review

Cool, I finished it just in time. I'm currently thinking about getting Astral Chain too, but I also ordered another game that should reach me within a week if not a few days. Hmm... I mean, I'm not that good at action games. But it looks cool enough. I did get the Nintendo Ticket thing though, in case I want to buy it.

Anyways, onto topic.
Before I start, I want to clarify that there are versions for three regions, with each region having different formats.
Asian: Package (only?) -> This contains subtitle languages for multiple regions, including English and Japanese. But you can't switch between languages after you start the game.
Japanese: Package + DL
English: DL-only.
BTW, for the localized version -> https://www.nintendo.com/games/detail/omega-labyrinth-life-switch/

Also, I'm going to add NSFW images in this post, so... Yeah.

So first, as usual, I'm going to summarize what I'm going to explain.
I think it is a well-done Roguelike game. And with fanservice too.
Good games with good fanservice... are good games.
So I would suggest it. And yes, I suggest most games I play. That's because I generally have a good eye and buy... at least games that won't piss me off.
...Except a couple in the past. But that's a different story.

Oh, and my playtime for this game at the time of beating the main story is around 40 hours.
Bigger dungeons can take 1-2 hours to beat, but you can save your progress at anytime to resume the dungeon.

Gameplay:
Now, I have only played a couple of Roguelike games, so I can't really compare, but as far as this game goes, I think the UI is pretty easy to understand and quite considerate. All of the button shortcuts to use items without having to open your item bag is there, for instance.

Also, while you do have plenty of fanservice mini-games, you can skip most of them with no consequences. So after you do it once, you are not forced to sit through it over and over again.
That said, the game you play to power-up your characters will not give its maximum reward if you skip the game. But that really isn't too necessary outside of post-game, maximizing stuff.

Other than the UI, I don't think there is much else to point out here? I think everything else goes by the rules of Roguelike games. Always starting at level 1, permanently losing items when you die, Monster Houses, etc, etc.

Oh, but speaking of losing your items, the game is pretty kind here too, as you are given one or two lifelines for if/when you die and lose important items like equipment, which you will likely spend much time investing in.

Outside of the dungeons, you can also create your own garden, by planting plants and rearranging ornaments. This is highly optional, so if you don't want to design your "My favorite dungeon", you don't really have too. However, planting and harvesting flowers gives you the necessary materials for forging powerful abilities onto your equipment, so if you plan to do post-game and maximizing your characters, you should at least do the flowering part. I think the garden designing is completely optional with no rewards though.

Story:
Satisfactory.
...What else is there to say. It does a satisfactory job. Nothing more, nothing less. Don't expect Xenoblade 2 when buying this game.
Also, at the end of each day and in their specific dungeons, you can also learn about each of the girls more. So this is one of those formats where they don't specifically dive down into each girl's story in the main story, but in more sub-quest formats.

Difficulty:
Easy enough. I did not really have much trouble playing throughout the main story,
However, the game provides you with Challenge Quests and what you could call Puzzle Quests.
Puzzles are just that, requiring you to solve a puzzle.
Challenge Quests are stuff like character-specific dungeons and the 99F dungeons and those good stuff.
So I think it is hard enough for people that want a challenge, but not so unreasonable you give up on the game. Yes, I'm talking to you, Etrian Odyssey Mystery Dungeon game.

Also, after a certain point in the game, you can play with the fairies instead of the human characters. While they do have benefits like floating and no hunger, this is pretty much Hard Mode, since they cannot equip armor and can suddenly be OHKO-ed by a speedy enemy (because they move twice and can two-shot you). You really have to use your room nuke-skill and items wisely to get through dungeons with them.

Fanservice:
Ah yes, the good stuff.
So for the touching games, there are two phases, one with the normal CG and then one where the character is partially (or mostly) stripped, as shown below. I'm not going into the system itself, since touching games are pretty much touching games whereever you go.

Then you have the... umm, rubbing mini-game. This is where you play a mini-game to unlock the identity of mystery items you find inside dungeons.
You can change the item that is rubbed, BTW, and each react a little differently.
Also, obviously, the bust size and such used as the background for rubbing changes depending on the character and their currently bust size.
If your character is inflicted with a specific status ailment that reduces their bust size to AA, then they will not be able to do this mini-game. For reasons. *wink*

Of course, you have the hot springs CG for each character + extra.
And yes, even the uncensored version will not show you their nipples. Their breasts are covered in steam regardless.
Yes, it is unfortunate, but it seems nipples are NG even on the Switch. There was that strip majong game that had to pause the DL version because one frame did not censor the nipples correctly.

Also, as you defeat enemies in dungeons, you absorb their power into your breasts. Once you absorb enough, your breast size increases. As shown below, my controlled character is H. But this goes to I -> J -> K -> L -> Z.
And your hot springs CG, rubbing game CG, etc. etc. all change based off your current bust size. As for the hot springs, the voiced lines by the characters change if you are at the max Z size, BTW. (Mainly complaining about how heavy their boobs are)
You get stronger as your bust size increases, so you should try to power yourself up as much as possible before reaching the boss.

This increase only lasts within a dungeon, so once you beat one and leave the dungeon, the bust size also returns to normal.

Also, I didn't bother to get images, but you have boob rock-paper-scissors, but that's really just a pair or two of boobs on screen.

And finally, a few complaints but not necessarily stuff that I would dock points from the game.

  • There is an enemy that casts confusion and hits you if you are in the same room. Unless he runs away, you are only given a few steps after recovering from confusion before he uses the same move again, which will bind you in that room for quite an annoying well.
  • There is an enemy that sucks your bust size whenever he hits you. He, at random, will not attack on his turn, but I think he has far too much HP for an enemy with such a devastating ability. Frankly, the safest way to fight him (outside of going all out using items to stop him) is to use your partner as a shield to take all the hits. Frankly, if you are hit even once, you can give up on the "Reach a certain bust size" accomplishment some dungeons have. HOWEVER, end-game dungeons give you an item that automatically makes your bust size Z, so I guess you can come back with that item to clear the accomplishment. Also, completing all accomplishments doesn't really give you anything that great to stress about.
  • Fire-based damage will randomly burn your bread items. This game is not kind to people who save their items to the last moment. Of course, there are plenty of ways to work around this, including items that fill your stomach and are not bread. So this is just one of those ugh moments I encountered often.
  • The abilities of some characters are just so much easier to use than others. For instance, one of Mei's passive abilities only activate if you fully equip her with cursed armor. Cursed armor have a lot of penalties and cursed armor are purified when you leave the dungeon. Also, going into hot springs purifies your equipment too, meaning you cannot even utilize hot springs. This makes that ability really hard to use. Her others aren't really that wow-ing either. On the other hand, Nanami can make all traps on the floor visible, randomly negate traps you step on, has an honest room-damaging attack, reflector, and built-in counter I chose her based off her looks at first, but it didn't take long for me to realize her abilities are so easy to use.

Also, a random note, but based off the credits and observation, there are two illustrators for the characters in this game.
I don't really think I need to explain this, since it is pretty easy to tell if you look at the differences between the art styles.

And I think that is about it? My hand is getting tired from typing.
Also, there are DLC for this game, but mostly just swimsuits and stuff that changes the artworks of the characters. I bought the Asian version, which I do not have an account for, so I can't really check myself.
Also, I don't condone this type of DLC practice anyways.

Anyways, it had been a while since I played a Roguelike, so it was fun and refreshing. And there was good fanservice along the way.
Ah the importance of getting a good illustrator for your game. Yes, I'm staring at you, Four Houses or Five Hourses or whatever your name was.

By the way, Youtube temporarily marked a gameplay video of this game I uploaded as breaking their pornography guidelines. In a way, I think that is a compliment for the game.
But I made sure they retracted the strike, since this is a perfectly console-friendly game verified by CERO and Nintendo.
